Today, Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) announced edX, a transformational new partnership in non-profit online education. MIT and Harvard will cooperate in the next years to offer online learning to millions of people around the world and to build up an online learning campus. Several other universities already announced online courses and material for the masses. The general aim of these initiatives is to extend their collective reach to build a global community of online learners and to improve education for everyone.
MIT also published an impressive amount of electronic course material (MIT OPENCOURSEWARE) in the past. The material covers a broad spectrum of courses from chemistry to engineering.

Last summer, famous Peter Norvik (author of ‘Artificial Intelligence A Modern Approach’) and Sebastian Thrun from Stanford university announced an online-class for applied Artificial Intellingence.
